Emmy Award Winner Sir Charles Barkley Still Lurking around Politics

The mound round of rebound is going to run for Governor.

That is right, the once MVP of the NBA is setting his ticket for 2014 in his home state of Alabama.

Barkley had a 16 year career in the Association, and is in the Hall of Fame. His great career went ringless (yeah us sports guys have to mention that), but he was two time gold medal winner. He would have won three but he was kicked off the 1984 team by Bobby Knight.

Barkley also had the famous, "role model", incident in 1993.

Barkley's message sparked a great public debate about the nature of role models. He argued,

I think the media demands that athletes be role models because there's some jealousy involved. It's as if they say, this is a young black kid playing a game for a living and making all this money, so we're going to make it tough on him. And what they're really doing is telling kids to look up to someone they can't become, because not many people can be like we are. Kids can't be like Michael Jordan.

Since his retirement from Basketball Chuck has been the best thing to hit sports broadcasting since Howard Cosell died.

Vote for Chuck 2014!
